8,000 Dead Birds Wash Up on Alaskan Coast

An estimated 8,000 common murre birds have washed ashore on Alaska’s Whittier beach after apparently starving to death. Murre die-offs have occurred in previous winters but not in the numbers witnessed in Alaska. Photo: AP
